Abstract
We estimated the fluorescein patterns and dynamic fitting of a trial RGP contact lens which was selected from three diameters(Dia. 8.7 mm, Dia. 9.0 mm and Dia. 9.3 mm) based on the flattest meridian curvature of cornea which have equal apex tear thickness and edge clearance for 26 students who are in their twenties(52 eyes, average 22.46 ¡¾3.35 years old) and have no ocular history. We determined the final prescribed lens after over-refraction at the most ideal fitting and analyzed the effects on the fitting characteristics by diameter change.
Average movement at the ideal fitting states was 9.3 mm : 1.03¡¾0.36 mm, 9.0mm : 0.93¡¾0.43 mm, 8.7 mm : 0.97¡¾0.44 mm, so the movement was the biggest in 9.3 mm but there was not meaningful difference in average movement according to diameter. Ideal fitting in every diameter and 1D flat fitting were compared and showed bigger movement after blinking at flat fitting(9.3 mm : 0.29 mm, 9.0 mm : 0.29 mm, 8.7 mm : 0.23 mm). There was high correlation in movement according to the variation of diameter at ideal fitting(9.3 mm and 9.0 mm r = 0.58, 9.0 mm and 8.7 mm r = 0.58, 9.3 mm and 8.7 mm r = 0.45), and there was also high correlation between ideal fitting in every diameter and flat fitting(9.3 mm : r = 0.43, 9.0 mm : r
= 0.47, 8.7 mm : r = 0.61).
Also, the correlation of the difference between base curve of the final prescribed lenses and flat K or Mean K and movement of ideal fitting, and the difference between base curve of the final prescribed lenses and flat K or mean K and movement of flat fitting was not meaningful.
In conclusion, it shows movement of lenses after blinking is more related to base curve and anatomical reason of individual than variation of diameter.
